Abstract

To evaluate the production of milk in cows supplemented with Gliricidia sepium, an experiment was carried out in Machiques of Perijá county, Zulia State, Venezuela, zone characterized as Tropical Dry Forest. The evaluated treatments were grazing (T1), grazing + 2 kg concentrate (T2), grazing + 1 kg concentrate + 1 kg de G. sepium (T3) and grazing + 2 kg G. sepium (T4). The statistical design used was a randomized design, with six replications. The results showed a signicative effect (P<.01) of the supplementation with G. sepium on the production of milk, being registered the greater production when the animals consumed 2 kg of G. sepium, obtained increases of 7.99, 12.1 y 13.9 % with respect to T3, T2 and T1, respectively. The utilization of this specie constitutes an alternative of supplementation in the alimentation animal.
