  • Maria Cristina Parra Sandoval Universidad del Zulia

Abstract

The university, one of the oldest institutions of humanity, has been challenged at different stages of its long history, however, today social changes pose novel challenges that undermine the traditional foundations of the institution. Latin American universities are no stranger to this process. To this is added that the universities of the South, and especially Latin American ones, have the challenge of joining development conceived as human development and a path towards overcoming the conditions of social and economic inequality and institutional precariousness that affect the region.
