Abstract

One trial was carried out in dry tropical forest location to determine the effect of diets containing different proportions of legume (Leucaena leucocephala) and commercial concentrate. Three diets were evaluated (100 % hay, 70 % hay + 30 % concentrate and 70 % hay + 30 % L. leucocephala) using growing sheep in a randomized block design with four replications. Nitrogen balance was positive for all treatments. The N retention and absortion was higher in diets with suplementation, without differences between concentrate or Leucaena leucocephala.
