Routes of applying Closantel as a gastrointestinal anthelmintic in sheep
Abstract
The efficiency of applying Closantel to sheep by oral and injectable routes was evaluated. Eighty-one female sheep, ranging in age from seven to nine months and weighing about 40 kg, divided into three groups of 27 each, were used. The number of eggs per gram of faeces was determined at two collections. Oral application gave a numerically higher efficiency (96%) than injectable (73%), the difference was not statistical (P > 0.05). Therefore, the method of application of choice should be the one most practical and of lowest cost.
