Hemogram in Bos taurus x Bos indicus cattle infested with ticks
Abstract
ABSTRACT
The aim of this research was to estimate the hematological values in cattle infested with ticks, because ticks can inoculate a wide variety of pathogens, which can transmit pathogens using different routes; Salivary secretions, coxal fluids, regurgitation and with their feces, there are reports that indicate a direct relationship between the tick infestation index, with the presence of anaplasmosis and anemia in cattle. The investigation was carried out in Santiago Sochiapan, Veracruz, Mexico, 30 bovines were used, of which 21 were multiparous cows and 9 calves, the animals are of the bos taurus x bos indicus breed. Three blood samples were taken at the beginning, intermediate and at the end of the work by puncture in the caudal vein, and the following parameters were measured: cell counts (erythrocytes and leukocytes), hematocrit and hemoglobin. For the statistical analysis, the correlation of the variables was carried out through the Spearman coefficient of variation with the SAS® statistical package, it is concluded that the hematological values in cattle infested with ticks presented a weak correlation, 0.121 and 0.224 for the concentrating hormone variables. melanin and cell volume respectively.
Keywords: hematological values, Amblyomma cajennense, melanin concentrating hormone, cell volumen.
