Abstract

Assefaw Tewolde Medhin, was a naturalized Mexican citizen, was born in Addi-Ugri, Eritrea, on August 21, 1949, completed his university studies at the University of Ethiopia, Alemaya (1973) with a specialization in Animal Sciences, his master's degree (1976) and Ph.D.'s (1981) were done in Animal Genetics and Husbandry from the Universities of Florida (UF) and Oregon State University (OSU), respectively. Dr. Assefaw Tewolde Medhin was a Mexican by conviction, he came to Mexico to stay and adopt it as his home and decided to live the rest of his life in Mexico and our American continent, as his home territory. Assefaw loved and worked for the native genetic resources, also known as Creoles, not only of the Americas but also for the Creole cattle of many other countries on the planet.
