QTL variability and its association with age at first egg, in the cross between IPA and FAGRO hens

Keywords: sexual maturity, microsatellites, ADL0201

Abstract

In order to study the association of the QTL MCW007, MCW0241 and ADL0201 whit the age at first egg, they were realized variance analysis including the genotype effect. They were calculated the allelic frequencies (Fa), observed heterozygosity (Ho), expected (He) and polymorphic information content (PIC). Likewise, the direct heritability, repeatability (R) and genetic correlations were estimated between: renh = EPH - NH60 (egg number at 60 weeks); repph = EPH - PPH (first egg weight); rept = EPH – PTH (total weight eggs) using the restricted maximum likelihood procedure. The EPH mean was 157.33 days. The Fa ranged from 0.15 to 0.75; Ho = 0 to 0.27; He = 0.25 to 0.48; PIC = 0.22 to 0.36. The h2 and R estimated for EHP = 0.11 and 0.30. The genetic significant correlations were: renh = - 0,59; repph = 0,32; rept = 0,24. Only association of QTL ADL0201 with EPH was detected and the percentage of phenotypic variance explained by the marker was 13%. The result show that it is feasible the incorporation of this marker to genetics programs assisted by molecular markers.
