Influence of science and technology on animal production in Latin America
Abstract
The evolution of animal production, considered as a market activity, was framed in Latin America by geographical, demographic and political factors that conditioned the entire economic and social development of the region. Animal production has traditionally been an area of fundamental economic importance in Latin America. This paper describes, in a very general way, the effects that some of these factors had on the technological evolution of Latin American livestock since colonial times, with emphasis on the initial phases.
