El suministro de servicios públicos en los predios
visitados en Chocó es deficiente, el 30.77 % de ellos
carece de energía eléctrica y ninguno posee servicio de
acueducto con tratamiento de agua. En NC casi la
mitad de los predios (42.86 %) posee planta eléctrica y
un 57.14 % posee agua de acueducto no potable. En
Cauca hay mayor acceso, el 86.67 % recibe energía de
una empresa de serv ic io s públicos y el 46.67 % recibe
agua no potable a través de acueducto. Nariño es el
sitio con mayor infraestructura, todos los predios
reciben energía eléctrica de una empresa de servicios
públicos y el 75 % poseen acueduc to con tratamiento
de agua. En todos los sitios la mayoría de los
encuestados tiene acceso a telefonía m ó v il, excepto en
Chocó, donde solo el 28.85 % de ellos tiene este
servicio.
Información referente al productor y su familia: La
edad promedio de los productores es 49.2 años y sus
familias poseen 5.25 integ rantes en promedio . Las más
grandes se encontraron en comunidades afro
descendientes (6.27 y 6.21 integrantes en promed io en
Chocó y NC, respectivamente) y las más pequeñas en
Nariño, con 4.62 integrantes en promedio.
El 42.5 % de la población solo cuenta con grado de
escolaridad primaria y el mismo porc entaj e no recibió
ningún grado de educación. En las poblaciones afro
descendientes se presentó el mayor porcentaje de
individuos que no han recibido ningún tipo de
educación (69.56 % en Chocó y 28.57 % en NC,
respectivamente), así como los mayores porcentajes de
hijos en edad escolar que no se encuentran estudiando
(44.23 % en Chocó y 64.28 % en NC, respectivamente).
La principal fuente de ingresos económicos para la
familia, en Chocó y Cauca es la agricultura (64.58 y
78.57 %, respectivamente), en el primero, el producto
principal son las musáceas, mientras en el segundo,
son el café (Co ff ea sp.), la papa (Sol a num sp.) y la
cabuya (Furcraea sp.).
En Nariño la princ ipal actividad económica es la
ganadería de leche (40 %) y en NC el alquiler de mano
de obra (33.33 %), trabajo esporádico que resulta
principalmente en época de cosecha.
Solo el 15.63 % de los productores practican la cacería
y el
29.7 % pescan. El sitio en el que más se usan ambas
prácticas es en Chocó. Las especies más comúnm ente
cazadas son la guagua (Myoprocta pratti), el armadillo
(Dasypus novemcinctus) y las pavas silvestres (Penelope
purpurascens), mientras que las especies que más s e
pescan son el guacuco (Tivela mactroides) y el sábalo
(Prochilodus lineatus), aunque és tas no son actividades
que generen ingreso s económico s significativos para
las familias. Para los productores entrevistados en este
departamento, el perro no es considerad o un animal
de compañía, sino de trabajo, al apoyar labores de
cacería.
Del total de la población, solo el 24.4 % ha obtenido
alguna vez un préstamo de una entidad financiera.
Producción agrícola: En Chocó y Cauca el 90.4 % y
el 60 % de los productores cultiva en terrenos distantes
al predio de habitación; en NC es el 42.9 % y en Nariño
solo el 12.5 %.
En Chocó predomina el cultivo del plátano (Musa
paradisiaca), en el 72.34 % de los sistemas, seguido por
frutales como coco (Cocos nucifera), limón (C i trus
lemon), chontaduro (Bactris gasipaes), borojó (Borojoa
patinoi) y guanábana (Anno na muricata). En NC
también predomina el plátano, aunque en menor
porcentaje (33.3 %), seguido por frutales, maíz (Zea
mayz), hortalizas y un tubérculo denominado
“papachina” (Colaca si a esculenta). En Cauca el cultivo
predominante es el café (Coffea sp.) en un 44.44 %,
seguido por los c ultiv o s de hortalizas, gramíneas, frijol
(Phaseolus vulgaris) y papa (Solanum Tuberosum). En
Nariño predomina el cultivo de gramíneas (33.3 %),
seguido por el cultivo de papa y hortalizas en
porcentajes similares, cultivos de plátano, maíz y caña.
Solo en el 45.5 % de los casos, los productores
realizan poda manual y el 36.5 % fertiliza o abona sus
cultivos. E l 44.23 % de los productores de C ho c ó y el
21.43 % d e NC realizan control de arvenses y todos lo
hacen de forma manual. E n Cauca predomina el
control manual (83.33 %) y en Nariño el químico (54.54
%).
Producción pec u aria: En términos generales se
encontraron 6.7 animales promedio por predio. En
todos los sistemas predomina la cría tradicional de
aves y cerdos, estos últimos, con presencia en los
cuatro sitios analizados y con una participación en el
inventario general, que v a desde 9.46 % hasta 38.06 %
en los sistemas visitados en Cauca y Chocó,
respectivamente. En la figura 1 se pres ent a la
distribución porcentual del componente pecuario en
los predios analizados.

avícola campesinos en el departamento de Caldas,
concluyendo que la relación entre las especies explotadas,
como aves domésticas y cerdos, implica que el impulso
