Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the intake and nitrogen balance in supplemented sheep with Cuji pod meal (Prosopis juliflora). The three treatments in a completely random design were T0: hay only (Brachiaria humidicola); T1: 70 % hay and 30 % concentrate; T2: 70 % hay and 30 % cuji pod meal. Intake, N balance, N retention, N absorbed were less (P<.05) for T0 than T1 and T2. These results suggest that Cuji pod meal can be used instead concentrate in sheep.
